Dr Magdalena M Koy

Magda grew up in Bayside Melbourne and attended Star of the Sea and MacRobertson Girls High School. Magda then studied dentistry at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2000 with honours and receiving the medal for excellence in removable prosthodontics (dentures). Whilst studying, Magda also won a scholarship with Rotary to travel to Vietnam where she worked with the Australian Rotary Dental Team.

Magda then gained extensive experience in private practices in Perth and Sydney before moving to England to further her dental experience and travel widely. Magda has completed further study whilst in the UK with the prestigious British Society of Occlusal Studies, gaining advanced skills in treating bite and jaw joint problems. Magda has a number of special interests in dentistry – she loves treating children and helping anxious patients overcome their fears. Magda also has a passion for cosmetic dentistry, having completed continuing education in the USA with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Magda is married to Mike and lives locally with their three children Oliver, Lucy and Hugo.

Dr Renata Duque


Renata graduated from UNIFLU University in Brazil with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2012.  After completing a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Restorative Dentistry with a focus on cosmetic dentistry, Renata moved to Australia and is now a permanent resident who has fully embraced the Australian way of life.

Renata’s passion for dentistry means that she regularly attends national and international continuing education to keep her up to date with what is best for her patients. She is an active member of the Australian Dental Association and has undertaken training in the Invisalign Clear Aligner System to straighten teeth.

Outside of the clinic, Renata enjoys an active lifestyle including running and cycling throughout Melbourne’s bike paths. Renata’s travel bug also takes her to many places to immerse in the variety of cultures, cuisines and exciting activities the world has to offer.

Mike established Bayside Smiles in 2006 in conjunction with his wife and fellow dentist Magda. Mike graduated from Sydney University in 2000 with Honours, receiving the R Morse Withycombe Prize for Proficiency in Clinical Periodontics (gum treatment). Mike worked throughout Australia and the UK gaining a broad range of experiences and knowledge, including active service in the Royal Australian Navy in the Persian Gulf.

Having now established his own practice, Mike’s goal is to provide high quality, long-term dental care to his patients over the next 20 years. Mike strives to provide a modern, holistic approach that is tailored to each individual’s requirements. His focus is on being thorough and meticulous whilst being caring and compassionate.

Mike is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA)Australian Osseointegration Society (AOS)Australian Society for Occlusal Studies (ASOS), Australian Prosthodontic Society (APS) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Mike lives locally and has three young children Oliver, Lucy and Hugo.

Ms Mallory McDonald

Mallory grew up locally in Bayside where she attended St Leonard’s College, before going on to graduate as the top student from the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne. Since then, Mallory has had experience working in both private and public settings throughout Melbourne. As an avid traveler, Mallory has also volunteered her dental skills both in rural Australia and internationally.

Dually qualified as a dental hygienist and therapist, Mallory enjoys working with patients of all ages to help them achieve a healthy smile they can be proud of. With a strong focus on patient education, Mallory takes pride in ensuring her patients understand their oral condition and what we can do together to improve it.

Mallory appreciates that not everyone loves coming to the dentist, but hopes that she can work with you to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. She does this by employing a gentle treatment approach and working with you to overcome any concerns you may have.

Outside of work, Mallory loves to stay active and enjoys traveling – as an avid snow boarder, she loves traveling in search of great snow!

Dr Jaclyn Wong

MBBS, BDSc (Hons), Post Grad Dip Surg Anat

Dr Jaclyn Wong has a special interest in oral surgery having completed both medical and dental degrees at the University of Melbourne. After completing her medical degree, Jaclyn trained for 3 years in general and specialty surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. During this time, she developed a keen interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery, in particular Orthognathic and trauma surgery.

After completing a post graduate diploma in Surgical Anatomy, Dr Jaclyn Wong returned to Melbourne University to complete a dental degree. She graduated with Honours in Dentistry and worked as a registrar in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery for six years at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Dental Hospital and Austin Hospital.

Jaclyn’s research has included analysing the novel technique of All on 4 implant surgery with particular focus on the functional and clinical outcomes of zygomatic implants as a component of the All on 4 system. She has trained with experts in this field and travelled to Portugal to learn from the inventor of the system at the Malo Clinic. Dr Jaclyn Wong worked as part of the surgical team at Malo Australia, with the first Malo clinic to open in Australia. She has been performing All on 4 surgery now for over 10 years with predictable success and excellent outcomes.
