Dr Magdalena M Koy

Magda grew up in Bayside Melbourne and attended Star of the Sea and MacRobertson Girls High School. Magda then studied dentistry at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2000 with honours and receiving the medal for excellence in removable prosthodontics (dentures). Whilst studying, Magda also won a scholarship with Rotary to travel to Vietnam where she worked with the Australian Rotary Dental Team.
Magda then gained extensive experience in private practices in Perth and Sydney before moving to England to further her dental experience and travel widely. Magda has completed further study whilst in the UK with the prestigious British Society of Occlusal Studies, gaining advanced skills in treating bite and jaw joint problems. Magda has a number of special interests in dentistry – she loves treating children and helping anxious patients overcome their fears. Magda also has a passion for cosmetic dentistry, having completed continuing education in the USA with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Magda is married to Mike and lives locally with their three children Oliver, Lucy and Hugo.

Mike established Bayside Smiles in 2006 in conjunction with his wife and fellow dentist Magda. Mike graduated from Sydney University in 2000 with Honours, receiving the R Morse Withycombe Prize for Proficiency in Clinical Periodontics (gum treatment). Mike worked throughout Australia and the UK gaining a broad range of experiences and knowledge, including active service in the Royal Australian Navy in the Persian Gulf.
Having now established his own practice, Mike’s goal is to provide high quality, long-term dental care to his patients over the next 20 years. Mike strives to provide a modern, holistic approach that is tailored to each individual’s requirements. His focus is on being thorough and meticulous whilst being caring and compassionate.
Mike is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian Osseointegration Society (AOS), Australian Society for Occlusal Studies (ASOS), Australian Prosthodontic Society (APS) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).
Mike lives locally and has three young children Oliver, Lucy and Hugo.
Dr Claudia Beltran
BDSc (Hons), ADC, Grad Dip Clin Dent (Implants)
Dr. Beltran is a Colombian trained Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. She completed her undergraduate studies and her post-graduate training at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana with the degree of first-class honours.
During her Masters degree, she had extensive training and experience in orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, reconstructive surgery and oral surgical procedures (impacted wisdom, dental implants and bone grafting).

Claudia continued to further her knowledge in dental Implants and All on 4 surgery. She has trained with the specialists in this field and accomplished the clinical residency of All on 4 in Portugal. Also, she obtained a graduate diploma in dental implants from James Cook University.
Claudia works a senior clinician at the Royal Dental Hospital in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and teaches in Melbourne University. She is accredited at the Avenue and Glenferrie Private Hospitals for general anaesthetic procedures.
Currently Dr. Beltran interests include wisdom teeth extractions, complex extractions, exposure of impacted teeth, implant surgery, All on 4 surgery and pre-prosthetic surgery. Claudia combines her surgical skills, knowledge and experience from all aspects of her training to provide an exhaustive assessment and treatment plan. But most importantly, she regards her compassion and attention to her patients’ needs as her greatest asset for providing optimal care.
Dr Henry Yang
Henry is a Melbourne local who moved to Brisbane to study dentistry at The University of Queensland where he graduated with Honours. Before joining the team at Bayside Smiles he gained a diverse range of experience in both private practices and hospital settings within Ballarat and Southeast Melbourne.
Henry loves getting to know his patients and has a strong belief in establishing positive dental experiences. He prides himself on his gentle and calming chairside manner.
A passion for dentistry and desire to provide high quality comprehensive dental care sees him attend many hours of continual education to keep up to date with the latest techniques and treatment. He is currently studying a post graduate diploma in orthodontics.
Outside of dentistry, Henry is a self-professed foodie and can be found eating his way through Melbourne. You can also find him on a tennis or basketball court, and he enjoys supporting his mighty Bombers.
Dr Caitlyn Huang
After graduating from The University of Adelaide, Caitlyn spent her first few years working in rural Victoria in both private practices and hospitals, before returning home to Melbourne and joining the Bayside Smiles Moorabbin team.
Caitlyn is passionate about helping her patients to feel comfortable and confident with their oral health. She prides herself on providing quality dentistry, based on open communication and an understanding of her patient’s needs.
As a member of the Australian Dental Association, Caitlyn is committed to continuing professional education to develop her skills further for better patient care. A big believer in equal access to care, she has provided dental aid in remote locations, including countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia.
Outside of work, Caitlyn enjoys reading, travelling, live music, and stand-up comedy. She is also trying to cook her way through a cookbook.
Dr Mihir Hargovan
Born and raised in Melbourne, Mihir graduated with honors from the University of Melbourne in 2011. After completing his studies, Mihir moved to regional Victoria where he has had extensive experience in both public and private dental practice. In 2013 he was appointed as a senior dentist at Goulburn Valley Health and lecturer at the University of Melbourne where his role was to provide clinical supervision and mentorship to final year Dental students.
Since then, he has spent his time in private general practice in Shepparton. Although he is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry, he has a special interest in Prosthodontics, and is currently completing the final year of a Masters in Clinical Dentistry at the prestigious King’s College in London. He finds it especially rewarding to restore function and dental health in individuals suffering from the detrimental effects extensive toothwear or broken down dentitions.
He always aims to treat his patients with empathy and understanding whilst striving to provide the highest quality, evidence based care.
He is an enthusiastic supporter of the profession and was the inaugural treasurer of the Australian Dental Association’s Goulburn Valley Group.
In his spare time you will find him on the golf course or supporting his beloved Hawks. He also loves to travel the world and exploring all of its culinary delights with his wife Shashwati.
Ms Mallory McDonald

Mallory grew up locally in Bayside where she attended St Leonard’s College, before going on to graduate as the top student from the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne. Since then, Mallory has had experience working in both private and public settings throughout Melbourne. As an avid traveler, Mallory has also volunteered her dental skills both in rural Australia and internationally.
Dually qualified as a dental hygienist and therapist, Mallory enjoys working with patients of all ages to help them achieve a healthy smile they can be proud of. With a strong focus on patient education, Mallory takes pride in ensuring her patients understand their oral condition and what we can do together to improve it.
Mallory appreciates that not everyone loves coming to the dentist, but hopes that she can work with you to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. She does this by employing a gentle treatment approach and working with you to overcome any concerns you may have.
Outside of work, Mallory loves to stay active and enjoys traveling – as an avid snow boarder, she loves traveling in search of great snow!
